Shaft - Service box

As per DIN EN 81-20 an easily accessible control unit must be provided on each elevator car roof for inspection and maintenance work. This unit must be activated using a changeover switch (inspection switch) that meets the requirements of electrical safety devices as per 14.1.2. Said switch must be bistable and secured against unintentional operation.

Moreover, the following items must be in the shaft pit:

• An emergency brake switch in accordance with 14.2.2 and 15.7, accessible from the access door to the shaft pit and from the bottom of the shaft pit
• An electrical outlet in accordance with 13.6.2
• A device for switching the shaft lighting in accordance with 5.9, accessible when opening the access door(s) to the shaft pit
